How To Happily Outshine The Skeptics

Noted 19th century essayist, Logan Pearsall Smith said that, “if you want to be thought a liar, always tell the truth.” How true that statement is! There is nothing that has ever been more attacked than truth. Just five hundred years ago, if you said that the world was round when everybody else said it was flat, you immediately became the object of ridicule. Yet which was the truth?

And why is it that Christ and Christianity is so attacked throughout the world? It is because Jesus declared that He is the truth. And despite all of the attacks by wicked rulers, militias, Satan, and every other attempt to disprove or destroy it, the truth of Jesus’ bold declaration and His subsequent death, burial, and resurrection is still freeing hearts and minds by the millions every year!

And you will know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. ~Jesus (John 8:32)

This makes a skeptic ever so angry! Why? Well, because he is a skeptic first of all. Lay out a hard and fast truth before a skeptic, and even if he totally agrees with it, you can bet that it won’t be long before something down inside of him makes him want to criticize it and attack it.

Rest My Child; I Never Slumber Or Sleep

Yesterday, I got to celebrate my daughter’s 27th birthday with her! HAPPY BIRTHDAY NATOSHIA!! You have grown to become such a beautiful and talented young lady! I’m such a lucky dad!!
When I think of a God who sees all things, the first thing that tends to come to mind is the fact that He sees all of our sins.  And of course that is true.  But we rarely meditate on His omniscience when it comes to our dark days and our difficult moments.

But I can say to you as a father of three beautiful children, one of the things I experienced when they were babies that most warmed my heart was when I could simply watch how peaceful they lo0ked when they napped during the day.

Just to hold a resting baby in your arms seems to make the whole world stand still. To see the completely undisturbed look on my child’s face filled me with a great sense of how fortunate I was. It was also in those moments that I began to realize that there was almost nothing I wouldn’t do for them.

Get The Exclusive!

You ever notice that there are some celebrities who could care less about what people think of them? I’m not talking about the arrogant, boozing, sexing, partying, rabble-rousing, anti-social celebrities that Hollywood can’t seem to get enough of though.

I’m talking about the few who never seem to get into trouble, and who are true masters of their craft, who promote a positive rather than a negative lifestyle. I’ll leave that open for interpretation, but I’m sure you get my drift.

There is something about those powerful and relatively humble icons that reminds me of Jesus. Yes, I said it! Some of them remind me of Jesus. And no! I am not saying that they are necessarily like Him. Yet what brings the Lord to mind as I watch this select few handle all of the glitz and glamour is the fact that their every move is scrutinized by paparazzi who really only hope to find a flaw in them that can make headlines:

The Continental Congress of 1776 signed and delivered the Declaration of Independence to Great Britain to announce that the 13 Colonies no longer considered themselves under British rule. It was the beginnings of the birth pangs of one of the greatest nations ever known.

God sent Moses to Pharaoh with a declaration of independence of sorts. It was simple… “Let my people go, that they may serve Me” (Exodus 8:1). Pharaoh foolishly retaliated over and over again until God finally destroyed him and his army. Through pain and out of obscurity, a great nation was being born.

Why It Is Good To Remember That We’re All “All Wet”

One sweltering summer day, two kids (brother and sister), burst out of the locker rooms and cannon-balled into the local swimming pool while mom relaxed and tanned on a nearby deck. Before long, the kids began to argue and call each other names. Then the little girl began to cry as her brother teased her. What was supposed to be a fun afternoon for the kids and a relaxing one for mom was turning into chaos.

After she could not take another second of their fussing, mom rose up and shouted, “Stop that right now, or I will take you both home and make you take naps!”

Then she told them to apologize to each other, when the little girl said of her brother, “But mom, he started!”  At that, mom asked her, “Well what did he do to you?”  To which she replied, “He splashed me with water. Now I’m all wet!”
