You Are Not A GPS: Why You Don’t Need To Know All The Details Of God’s Direction

Where are you heading in life?  Maybe you think you know, and maybe you don’t. But consider this – sometimes not knowing exactly where you are going is better than having all the details up front.

Let’s face it, you are not a GPS navigation system, right? So why do you need to know exactly where God is leading and how to get there? He knows where He wants you to go and how He wants to get you there. Trust me, you don’t want to know all of the details. Here’s why.

Does This Offend You?: A Compass Check For Christians

Merriam-Webster’s Online Dictionary says that the word “scandalize” means to offend the moral sense of; to shock. For example, “She was scandalized by his behavior”. In Matthew 11:6, Jesus said that whoever “is not offended in me” is blessed.

The Greek translation of the word “offended” as used in Matthew 11:6 is “scandalize”. So, essentially Jesus is saying that whoever is not morally offended by Him is blessed.

The transitive verb form of the word “offended” is to cause to feel vexation or resentment usually by violation of what is proper or fitting; as when someone is offended by another person’s use of foul language. The offended person’s sense of morality has been shocked, appalled or violated by such speech.

Eye Salve-ation: Putting Your World In The Best Perspective

Oh, if Adam had only refused to eat the forbidden fruit!  What wondrous things we would be able to see and perceive about God, about our lives, and about the universe!  But as the story goes… “Then the eyes of both were opened, and they knew that they were naked.  And they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loincloths.

And they heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden”(Gen. 3:7-5). …we will come back to that tragic event…

Don’t Worry, Leave The How-To’s To HIM

What To Do When You Don't Know What To Do

Ever feel caught between a rock and a hard place in your walk with God?  When Moses led the people of Israel out of Egypt, their first test of faith was the Red Sea.  Pharaoh’s army was behind them, the Red Sea in front of them, and impassible rocks were to the left and right of them.

Immediately the people began to murmur and doubt, and even Moses was about to have his own lapse of faith. But he called on the Lord. Take a mental note: Whenever you feel like your faith is beginning to lapse, there is no better thing you can do than to call on the Lord.

Get Answers From GOD

Commentator John Gill wrote that: “Some persons pray, and that is enough; they do not concern themselves whether their prayers are heard or not: but David desired an answer, and looked after that, not in his own strength but in the strength of the Lord”

When you have a heart for God, you get answers from God because when you pray, you put your heart into it! Be careful not to pray with too many generalizations, or to let whatever comes to mind just cross your lips.  Pray for as much as you can really put your heart into and stop so diffusing your spiritual energies through careless prayers.

A dANGER of Marinating In Anger

Why is it that the word of God warns us to not go to bed angry?  Well among other reasons—like the fact that tomorrow is not promised, or the fact that the person you are angry with may take your ought to the Lord while you sleep on it—when you sleep you are more vulnerable to suggestion than when you are awake.  It is the reason why hypnotists exist.

They seek to get you into a sleep-like state, so they can convince or program you to do many things you probably wouldn’t do if you were wide awake.

Going to bed on anger is like soaking a piece of meat in a brine.  Overnight the salt slowly penetrates deep into the meat until every bite of it is permeated by it.  While brining can be great for the flavor of meat, it is terribly dangerous for a person to allow anger to marinate within as he or she sleeps.

True Voice Recognition – You’re Hearing But Are You Hearing?

My computer has voice recognition software built into it, and so does my iPhone 4S.  In order to set them up, I had to repeat several prescribed phrases so that they could better discern my voice.  What does it take for us to better discern the voice of the Lord?

If you look up an Official Ten-Code List for radio communications, you will find that “10-4” means “acknowledgement”, “I understand”, and/or “OK”.  These are terms used between two parties to signify that what has been said is discernible and will be complied with.  And there is another “10:4” that speaks of similar things; that is John 10:4, where Jesus says concerning Himself that, “when He puts forth His own sheep, He goes before them, and the sheep follow Him.  For they know His voice.”

Design Despite Your Dysfunction

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.  When the Bible speaks of the creation of the earth, it says that it was “without form and void”.  There was basically a huge rock completely surrounded by water

floating in space, which at that point appeared to serve no good purpose whatsoever—it was essentially dysfunctional. It existed because God created it, but for whatever reason, for the time being, it was without form and void. And there is much debate about why the earth was in that condition at the creation.
